Contribute to the Sutton Green Map
All streets in Sutton are now mapped. However, that does not mean that
there is no work left. It is rather the opposite! There are still plenty of opportunities
to get involved and improve the representation of your neighbourhood on the map.
What Can I Do?
- This is the
easiest way to contribute to the map. Just browse the online map and use your local
knowledge to find errors or things that are missing on the map. Other mappers can then
add or correct the data.
Add Points of Interest
Go on a walk around your neighbourhood with a printout of the
Sutton map and mark all interesting things like shops, schools, pubs, telephone boxes or bus
stops on the printout. Back home you can add them to the map with the
online map editor Potlatch, or just report them
as error for others to add.
Add footpaths and green spaces
You have a GPS device? Then, why not map
footpaths and other green spaces that can't be guessed from paper sketches?
Sutton has lots of them which are not yet on the map. Take
your dog for a walk, put your GPS device in your pocket and record the
track whilst you are walking. Once you are back at your computer you can upload
the track to the OpenStreetMap website and use it to draw the footpaths in the right
place. All the details of how to map with a GPS device are explained on the OpenStreetMap
wiki.
Map Merton, Croydon, Wandsworth, the world!
Sutton might be finished but the
surrounding still has large blank areas! It works like mapping footpaths only
that you can map every road you go along. That is your chance
to become a real explorer!
